GRSC Tasar Report 21 Feb 2016

Today saw the longest elapsed race times sailed this season due to very erratic light to moderate breezes which seemed to fluctuate endlessly between SW & SE. With moments of almost complete lulls then fresh gusts (Kurnell recording betw 4- 18 kts 1.30- 4pm), the conditions made for a very tricky race course. But it wasn’t too tricky for `Another Roady’ skippered& crewed by Peter& Pia.

Results – for Races 9 & 10 of the Summer CC : 1st in both races was `Another Roady’; and running 2nd& 3rd in Race 1, it was Blew’n (Bruce H &` up& coming crew member from the sailing school' Fiona) successfully followed by `SheepStations’ (Bernie& Sarah). In Race 2, again it was `SheepStations’, with Chris Johnson’s `Like Lightning’ nicely crossing the line in 3rd.

As the handicap pointscore continues to run through a CC, it’s always very exciting to see how all competing boats perform. Once again, congratulations is in store for James& his son Jordan (see pic insert) sailing `Bolt’ who sailed brilliantly winning both races on HCP! Bolt may in the very near future have a new body and even Mylar sails, as James takes purchase of a new tasar this week. Bolt still remains 1st overall in the Autumn PS, 5 pts in the lead from `String Theory’ who held a very nice 3rd and 2nd in today’s respective races (well done again John & David!), with Bernie& Sarah in `SheepStations' 6 further points behind in 3rd overall spot. For the records also today, Like Lightning came 2nd on HCP Race 1, and `Another Roady’ came in 3rd in Race 2.

With 12 tasars flying around today's race track, a fine job was performed by Mark Furka (Double Trouble) on safety boat. Mark hopes to be rejoining our club sailing next season. In addition, a special word of thanks goes to our GRSC Opti’s Class Capt Chris& wife Michelle on Start boat for their assistance in starting and recording todays times for our Tasar class.

Next Sunday 28 Feb will be a little different. It’s our `Around the Bay’ HCP race. More details about this will follow during the week!

Reminders - don’t forget to send your expressions of interest for new sails and spars to Pete by mid this week, in an endeavour to provide TANSW members with discounted prices based on a bulk Aust wide purchase.
