Orange’s Mac Reith-Snare and Tom Zeylemaker dominated at last week’s 2017 International Friendship Series in Queensland, helping their Australia Gold side claim the title.

The former was also named tournament MVP and named at first base in the team of the tournament, while the latter can consider himself unlucky not to have made that side.

The duo inspired Australia Gold to seven wins from its nine starts and top spot after the preliminary round games.

That ultimately sealed the title for the side, Friday’s play-offs were washed out and thus the champions were decided on round robin standings.

Reith-Snare was monumental with bat in hand for his side, so much so he batted .1000 for the first three days of the carnival after opening up his campaign with a whopping home run over left field.

That’s right, every time he stepped up to the plate in his side’s first five games he made it on base.

Zeylemaker was also superb in the opening stages, and their strong performances didn’t stop after Australia Gold’s first-up encounters.

Between them, the Orange duo pummeled a handful of home runs across the four-day tournament, accounted for more than a dozen of their side’s other runs and even more runs batted in.

Australia Gold went through its first five games unbeaten before suffering its first defeat to a spirited ISA New Zealand unit.

The Friendship Series is part of the selection process for Australia’s 2018 World Championship side too.International
