2014 Micronesian Games (Beach Wrestling)

In this competition, there were Palau, Yap, Kosrae, Marshalls and Pohnpei that competed in this competition. A total of 29 athletes competed in the mens light weight division (under 85kg) and only 12 wrestlers competed in the mens heavy weight Division (+85kg and up). In the light weight division, Ryan Ifamalik (Pohnpei) won the gold medal, Parson Pelep (Pohnpei) won silver, and the two bronze medals went to Solomon Tohejal (bronze) and Risky Prederick (bronze).

In the heavy weight division, Skilang Temengil won gold medal proving to be too strong for his opponents. Emelio Mike (Pohnpei) won silver, Bapiano Ioanis (Pohnpei) and Berman Elias (Pohnpei) both won the bronze medals.

Female Light / Heavy Weight Division

In the female light weight division for the beach wrestling competition, Llani Keju (Marshall Islands) won the gold medal. The silver medal went to Annie Dolon (Pohnpei) and the two bronze medals went to Annette Ioanis (Pohnpei) and Betsy Sillo (Pohnpei). Ashley Martine (Pohnpei) placed 5th, Maxine Ioanis (Pohnpei) placed 6th and Vicky Ann Nick (Pohnpei) placed 7th.

In the female beach wrestling competition for the heavy weights, Angeline Tom (Pohnpei) won the gold medal, Marleen Jack (Pohnpei) won the silver medal, Piolani Tartius (Marshalls) won bronze and Samantha Rechelluul (Palau) placed 4th.

Overall Light vs Heavy Weight Division (Men and Women)

In the overall light vs. heavy weight competition event, Emelio Mike (Pohnpei) won the gold medal by forfeit due to Temengil not being able to compete. Temengil ended up settling for a silver medal. The bronze medal went to Emilio Mike of Pohnpei (light weight) who defeated Parson Pelep (Pohnpei). 

In the overall females (light vs. heavy) category in Beach Wrestling, Llania Keju of the Marshalls Islands won the gold medal over Angeline Tom (Pohnpei) who received the silver medal. Marleen Jack (Pohnpei’s heavy weight) won the overall female bronze medal after defeating Annie Dolon (light weight) of Pohnpei.

The mens overall team ranking in Beach Wrestling went to Pohnpei. 2nd went to Yap, 3rd place Palau, 4th place went to Marshalls and Kosrae placed 5th. In the female overall team ranking Pohnpei placed 1st, Marshalls 2nd place and Palau 3rd place.

In the overall medal count, Pohnpei pulled in the most medals with 64 overall, Palau placed 2nd, Marshalls 3rd, Yap 3rd, Kosrae placed 4th, Chuuk placed 5th and Nauru 6th place.
