Australia jump on the New Zealand early to 12-2 win

Australia (1-0) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the New Zealand (1-1), recording a 12-2 victory on Friday at McLeod Park.

With nine runs in the first three innings,  Australia left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Mitch Holding, a two-run double by Alex Wells, a wild pitch, a two-run error, a two-run error, and an RBI single by Dean Frew in the first inning helped the Australia put some runs on the board early.

 Australia came out swinging, scoring seven runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the New Zealand early.

Alan Kenny improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Australia. He allowed one run over four innings. He struck out six, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Benjamin Thompson (0-1) took the loss for the New Zealand. He allowed seven runs in one inning, walked three and struck out one.

Wells, Louis Baker and Frew helped lead the Australia. They combined for six
