Ballarat Badminton also hosted the Australian Junior International a few days after the Oceania Championships. The event attracted players from Tahiti, Tonga, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and local Australian players. Daniel Guda won two of the titles on offer in the singles and mixed doubles.
Local boy Mitchell Gervasoni wasn’t able to secure his name on the boys’ singles national board after he bowed out of the quarter final to first seed Daniel Guda in a 21-9, 21-8 loss.
The boys singles was fought between first seed Guda and second seed Anthony Joe, Guda winning 21-8, 21-19.
Australian Joy Lai seeded 1 in the girls singles couldn’t quite seal the deal when she lost to unseed Indonesian Mitzi Purnama in three games 17-21, 21-15, 21-16 early on then as the Indonesian progressed to the final she played another Australian Alice Wu  but was inpenetrable, the Indonesian winning the title 21-17, 19-21, 22-20.
The boys doubles was mostly Australian affair with a very small draw. Top seeds playing each other in the final with the second seeds beating the top seeds to give Joe/Leung the title 21-18, 21-11.
Girls doubles Liu and Khoo faced second seeds Alice Wu and Jennifer Tam in the all-Australian final with the seeded pair winning the title 21-14, 21-10
