Badminton granted AusAid funding

Badminton Australia in partnership with Oceania Badminton was successful in being selected to receive AusAid funding to deliver Badminton (Shuttletime) to the Pacific region it was announced by the Australian Minister for Sport, Melissa Parke.

Pacific Sports Partnerships (PSP) funded through the AusAid programme helps Australian national sporting organisations work with their regional partners in the Pacific to deliver sport-based programmes that achieve key social development objectives.

Sport plays such an important role in helping combat non-communicable diseases (NCD) by getting people mor active more often. NCD are growing rapidly in the Pacific and cause 75% of all adult deaths in the Pacific.

Badminton is one of the sports which has benefited and will be delivering Shuttletime in Kiribati and Tonga.

14 million over 11 sports over 4 years means a large investment to develop healthier more inclusive communities in the Pacific. This is the second phase of the PSP programme and more sports have been included.

The investment will be in delivering the Shuttletime programme in Tonga and Kiribati.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
