Newstalk ZB Deaker on Sport spoke to Julie Carrel

Julie Carrel, Event Director of the SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open spoke with Murray Deaker on Newstalk ZB’s Deaker on Sport segment.

Julie is excited to see the return of a Grand Prix level tournament with the  SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open in 2013, and hopes it will be a stepping stone to hosting bigger and better international badminton in the coming years.

With the SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open following immediately after the Yonex Australian Badminton Open, Julie is confident that a number of top-20 ranked players will subsequently cross the Tasman to participate in the New Zealand event, which runs from 10-14 April – bringing some of badminton’s biggest names to our shores to compete against the best New Zealand talent.
