2018 FIH CONGRESS - GREAT OCEANIA ATTENDANCE

The Oceania attendees were:

  • OHF - President Pam Elgar, Secretary General Bob Claxton, Vice President Nihal Senevirante, Executive Board Member Norman Same and CDO Gill Gemming.
  • Australia - Board Chair Mel Woosnam, CEO Matt Favier, and Clare Prideaux.
  • Fiji - Hector Smith
  • New Zealand - Ken Maplestone
  • Papua New Guinea - Kaluwin Potuan and Ray Lapun
  • Samoa - Peta Mualia-Te'o
  • Solomon Islands - Nihal Senervirante
  • Tonga - Hiko Fungavaka

The first two days involved FIH Executive Board meetings and Continental Federation meetings. The CF meetings were significant as the funding for the next four year cycle was determined with discussion around the MOU that specifies the responsibilities of both FIH and OHF. Global development programmes were discussed and these will become evident from 2019 onwards.

The Island nations were able to spend time building relationships with Australia and New Zealand, as well as sharing ideas with other developing nations particualrly from South America and Africa.

Having a full representation will enable each NA to gain an understanding of FIH programmes and direction over the next four years, especially with presentations on Olympic Solidarity opportunities, global development programmes and the very exciting FIH Live channel that all hockey players will have free access to.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
