2019 WABL Grand Finals

2019 WABL Grand Finals

Wow, the Season has now concluded and what a Season it was!!!

Congratulations to all Willetton Tigers WABL teams who participated throughout the 2019 season.

We started out way back on 23 February 2019 when the Grading Tournaments commenced, and our Association had 29 x teams playing in this Basketball WA competition across most grades from U12’s to U20 Men.

The Season was not without its difficulties (Game Day Sundays and Fundraising venues mainly) and this was due to the Expansion and Renovation project in place. However, families, players, Coaches, Team Managers, spectators from our Willetton community and other Associations generally respected this and we got through to the end.

On Sunday 22 September 2019, 14 x Tigers teams competed in Grand Final games for their respective age groups and of those, 8 x teams were announced as Premiers: -

  • U12 Championship Girls Blue 60 vs Rockingham Flames 42
  • U12 Championship Boys 76 vs Warwick Senators 62
  • U14 Championship Girls Blue 51 vs Mandurah Magic 34
  • U14 Championship Boys Blue 62 vs Warwick Senators 45
  • U14 Division 4 Boys Blue 69 vs Lakeside Lightning 68
  • U16 Championship Girls 64 vs Mandurah Magic 55
  • U16 Division 2 Girls White 38 vs Perry Lakes Hawks 35 MVP Anjelique Raison
  • U18 Division 3 Men 71 vs Perry Lakes Hawks 69 MVP Matthew Crook.

The following players were named as BWA All Stars: -

  • U12 Championship Girls – Lara Bussell, Ayvah Rioli
  • U14 Championship Girls – Kiara Waite, Monique Williams
  • U14 Championship Boys – Adrien Cotte, Nicholus Lahiri
  • U16 Championship Girls – Ella Doyle
  • U16 Championship Boys – Thomas Gerovich
  • U18 Championship Women – Shenae Hartree
  • U18 Championship Men – Tana Kopa, Tyler Kohr
  • U20 Men – Zachary Barham

Our Association is also grateful for the amazing contribution made by our Referees throughout the Season. With 29 x teams in the Competition and various venues between HBF Stadium in Joondalup and Eaton Recreation Centre in Eaton, South West, they provided great support and at times, had to travel between venues to fulfil our requirement to have Referees in place. Thank you everyone!!

Overall our teams and Referees represented our Association so well, a fantastic effort by all!!
