CSRFF funding round for 2018 announced

While we welcome today’s announcement that the WA Government will provide $1.5m from the CSRFF program towards our proposed expansion project, we sadly cannot commit to the project today, given there is a shortfall against the project cost.

As $2million was within the allowable amount for the state funding (CSRFF) program, we had hoped that a $2million grant from the State Government would mean that we could commit to construction starting within a few months.  Today could have been a great celebration for the Association.

Our Board will consider the situation and review its options as to whether we can proceed with the expansion project. The Board will do all that it can to make this expansion a reality.

The WA Government was aware the costs of the project had been stripped back to essential features to function effectively with 4 more courts.  Anything less than the $2m we sought from them will lessen our ability to deliver the expansion.

The reduced amount may also affect the Federal Government contribution, as it committed to $5.5m or 50% of the project value – whichever is the lesser amount.

As it took 9 years to raise our $800,000 towards the project value, we have limited capacity to find any extra funds required to meet the significant shortfall we now face in the coming months.
