Stadium Expansion Update

Stadium expansion update

We start 2017 full of optimism that we will make good progress on our stadium expansion project this year and your Board is committed to doing everything possible to make the expansion happen as soon as practically possible.

The situation is currently as follows –

1. The stakeholders –

a.       The City of Canning confirmed their much needed support for the project to the extent of $2.2m, subject to Federal funding being found.

b.      The WA Government faces an election in March and we will be working towards securing the required commitment during the election process.

c.       Our Federal Member (Ben Morton) is working tirelessly on securing the required Federal funding and has a strategy to this end.

d.      Our contribution towards the project is close to being secured, as we have been saving heavily for many years towards our target to meet our commitment

2.       Our objective is to secure all required funding by 30 June 2017, with the intention of being as ready as possible by the time all funding arrangements have been confirmed.

3.       In the meantime, the Board decided to advance as many aspects of the pre-project phase in anticipation of securing the required project funding.  This includes checking all services & relevant engineering around water supply, fire systems, engineering, electrical & power supplies, drainage, etc to ensure as much of this process is completed to minimise construction timing once funding has been arranged.

4.       The architects were commissioned to advance the building design concepts in conjunction with the relevant departments of the City of Canning.

We will keep members informed of progress along the determined journey we are taking towards an expanded stadium.
