Volunteers of the Month: Team Managers
This Month our focus is on a group of important volunteers – Team managers.
Every month we acknowledge the Volunteers that make Willetton Basketball Club's special. Volunteers are involved in every aspect of our operations, all the way from our SBL programs to our under 8 club teams.
Team managers do an excellent job keeping everything together. All sporting clubs and associations require volunteers to assist regardless of background or knowledge of the game. Parents and volunteers giving their time to our sporting community is what make it great and with all roles involved please contact your club or an office member about how we can help you to help your club.
What does a manager do?
In WABL or SBL the team manager role becomes more formalised, but at domestic/club level, the job is as big or as small as the person’s abilities. Most team managers are the main point of contact for team members. A manager’s role can as small as keeping a team list of contacts and alerting the team members to forfeits. Some managers send out a roster to parents for scoring (and reminders!), and some managers collect and wash shirts after every game. Some managers share the role and divide responsibilities between the parents of a team.
How can you become a manager?
Managers, like coaches, are volunteers, and really make the difference in a team. A manager is usually a parent or family member of someone in the team, but does not have to be! Let your coach or your club – or even your team manager - know that you’d like to lend a hand, people don’t always ask for help.
If you are an domestic player and you want to say a big thanks to your manager let us know! Tag your team manager to our link at facebook!
