Fundraising for new rescue boat

Deviot Sailing Club is planning to purchase a new rescue boat this year to replace our much loved but ageing “Bramble”.  Having a well equipped and reliable rescue boat is essential in providing a safe experience for our members.  The cost of the new boat is expected to be around $31,000.

We are submitting grant applications with Sport and Recreation (up to $10,000) and West Tamar Council (up to $5,000).  We need to raise the remaining $16,000 through corporate sponsorship, member donations and fund-raising.  We plan to make the purchase in the second half of 2017, after the grant results are announced in late June.

For the Sport and Recreation grant, we need to show that we have the matching funding already raised or pledged. This grant closes on Wednesday 15 March, so we need to have $10,000 either donated or pledged by that date.

We have set up a fund with Australian Sports Foundation which will allow tax-deductable donations to be made. The ASF deducts a small percentage for their running costs, but for those that pay tax this is the best way to donate.

For people who don’t need a tax deduction, it is best to donate directly to the club.

If you can make a donation, either:

- Make a Tax deductable contribution at

- Transfer your contribution to the Deviot Sailing Club Account: BSB: 067023, Account no: 028012546. Please put your name in the comments section.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
