Mordialloc saw 20+ knots on Saturday and as a result racing was abandoned. On Sunday the 5 minnows hit the water early for a 0957 first warning. With the sun out and 10 knots steady from the SW with 1/2 metre waves, it was near perfect conditions. The Minnows were in with the 6 or so Bic’s and only a few Opti’s and Sabot’s.
Everyone had some success throughout the day with Anna and Jarvis both taking out two races each and Jarrod picking up the other. Jade had a strong presence in the middle race with a second in the minnows whilst when the wind picked up in the last race, George got cracking and placed second behind Anna.
The second race was a bit of a lesson not to follow the lead Bic to the wrong mark, congratulations to Jarrod for picking the right one. The third races beat to the top mark was so close that they were all crossing within metres of each other, Anna’s final tack to the mark was the difference in the whole race gaining her some 25 boat lengths advantage.
By the end of the day the minnows were right on top of the lead Bic around the course and in the
4th race Anna nearly got over the top of them.
The Minnow sailors, after handicap, were 2nd Jarvis and 3rd Anna (a Bic sailor came 1st on handicap). A great days sailing was enjoyed by everyone.
