Tuggeranong Hawks vs Ainslie Tri Colours
Where: Green Way Oval
When: 4:15pm Saturday 9th of April
Last time they met: Round 16 2015: Ainslie Tri colours - 10.9.69 - Tuggeranong Hawks- 8.22.70
In a nail biter held at Alan Ray Oval Tuggeranong Hawks defeated Ainslie Tri Colours by one point. Hawks should have dominated on the score board but their inaccuracy in front of goals kept the Tri Colours right in the hunt.
This is the first hit out for both teams in the 2016 season. Can Tuggeranong back up their strong showing from last year but also go one step further? Will the Tri Colours lift themselves to be a premiership force?
Tuggeranong Hawks finished the 2015 season in 2nd and went all the way to the preliminary final before falling short against the Queanbeyan Tigers who went on to win the premiership.
A season that showed so much promise fell flat in the end as they couldn’t handle the pressure of finals footy losing both games in the finals period. They will definitely be looking to improve and go one step further and reach that Grand Final. Goal kicking would have been a focal point in the off season as well as fitness.
Ainslie Tri Colours finished last season in 4th and got hammered by the Queanbeyan Tigers in Semi Final one. Making the finals was a good achievement but more is needed this year to challenge for the upper echelon of the league. Now that they are officially out of the NEAFL they can focus their full attention on 1st grade as they have added some good NEAFL players in the mix for good depth in the squad.
Prediction:
Overall both teams will want to start the season fresh and get off to a strong start. Both teams will be fighting fit and it will be interesting to see which team has had the best pre-season preparation and be able to bring it all together on game day.
