Woden Blues vs. ANU Griffins
Saturday 5th September, Gungahlin Enclosed Oval, 1:00pm
By Tom Kazias, AFL Canberra Journalist
The Woden Blues have come a long way over the past few seasons and are playing in their first Grand Final for a number of years. They’ve had the weeks rest to recover after defeating ANU in the Semi Final which gives them a slight advantage come match day. Over the context of the season they have proven to be the most consistent team and finished the league as minor premiers. It probably won’t shock many people if they defeat ANU but they will have to be at their best for this to become reality.

ANU on the other hand have done it the tough way but were rewarded with yet another Grand Final appearance after defeating ADFA last weekend. They will be looking to use the momentum from that game to get them off to a good start on Saturday. Throughout the season they have played well in patches but at times have struggled for consistency. However anything that has happened during the season is now meaningless. ANU is a club who has had success in recent years and will have finals experience on their side. They are peaking at the right time and will give the Blues a run for their money.
Over the year these two teams have played the best football in the league and rightfully deserve their positions in the Grand Final. It will be a cracker of a match and anyone who supports local football should attend. The game will be played at Gunghalin Enclosed at 1pm on Saturday. Can ANU cause an upset and continue their rich success or can Woden prove that they have well and truly turned their club around?
