The Eastlake Football Club is pleased to announce that it has appointed current Richmond VFL player Ben Waite as its NEAFL Playing Head Coach for the next two seasons.
Waite was chosen from a number of high calibre applications that the Club received nationally.
Waite impressed the Club with his strong football philosophies and values, drawing upon his experiences in the VFL over the past eight years with Richmond, Casey Scorpions and Frankston.
The 30-year-old will bring a wealth of experience and a much-needed big body to the young Demons line-up, with Waite also boasting the ability to play key position at either end of the ground.
A vocal and encouraging player on-field, Waite will no doubt also lead by example, with his aggression, defensive pressure, and contested marking ability set to be a big boon to the men in red and black in 2015.
"The Club is confident its young playing list will thrive under Ben’s leadership,” said Stephen Soulsby, Football Manager.
Waite said he is looking forward to commencing his new role.
“This position has offered me an opportunity to continue in state league football and I’m looking forward to meeting the team and starting with a strong pre-season," Waite said.
"I am extremely honoured to be coaching Eastlake; a historic and proud Club and I am excited about what lies ahead."
