Division 2
ADFA booked themselves a Grand Final berth with a dominant victory over ANU, as ANU failed to prove that their win over ADFA in the final regular season round wasn’t just because of the circumstances that week.
Meanwhile, Belconnen made sure that the form guide was adhered to, as they made easy work of an Ainslie side, and look to shake off their inconsistency that plagued them through the end of the home and away rounds.
ANU vs. Belconnen
A repeat of last year’s preliminary final, ANU will also be looking to repeat their strong victory in last year’s corresponding fixture.
ANU failed to back up their end of season form, and went down heavily to last year’s Premiers, and this year’s Minor Premiers, ADFA.
ANU’s task is to get past Belconnen, and put history into their own hands.
While Belconnen were easily pushed aside in the first round of the finals by ANU, the Magpies will be making sure that they also change history, to book their spot in the Division 2 Grand Final against ADFA.
Division 3
The tight nature of Division 3 proved unpredictable again, as ANU booked their Grand Final tickets with a strong 23 point victory over the Minor Premiers, Goulburn Swans.
While Yass was expected to get past Belconnen, at least based on ladder position, a 54 point victory to the Roos wasn’t as expected, as Belconnen were knocked out of the race to the flag.
Goulburn vs. Yass
Goulburn may have been a little bit too over-confident heading into their Qualifying Final last week, and found themselves defeated by an ANU side looking for back-to-back flags.
The Swans will be looking to bounce back against Yass, in what would have effectively been a top of the table clash during the regular season.
The Roos made easy work of Belconnen in their Elimination Semi-Final last week, after their disappointing loss to ANU in the first week of the finals.
Yass and Goulburn have only the one meeting to look back on from this year, with the Swans recording a 43 point victory on the road early in the season.
The question for this game though, is whether Goulburn can bounce back to their season’s best, or will Yass be able to get past the Minor Premiers, and have a shot at the flag next week.
