Boil Over in Bundaberg!
Watch The Feet have delivered the upset of the 2017 Bundaberg Cup, defeating title favourites Rockhampton in an extra-time thriller.
In a fiery Men’s Open final, some uncharacteristic errors in attacking zone proved costly for Rockhampton, with multiple scoring opportunities squandered in both halves.
Brisbane-based Watch The Feet kept the pressure on, led by Australian Men’s Open representative Cody Green.
With a 3-all score line at the end of regular time, Watch The Feet’s Liam Waddups scored on the siren in the first period of extra time to steal the shock win, following their 8-3 loss to Rockhampton in the round games.
It was a cleansweep in the Open division for Watch the Feet, easily accounting for Odd Balls 9-3 in the Mixed Open final.
In the junior divisions, Gympie were represented in all three finals, securing the Under 12 title.
The third year of the Bundaberg Cup – Australia’s richest touch football knockout tournament – was the biggest yet, with a record 43 teams coming from as far as Sydney, Toowoomba and Brisbane.
The Bundaberg Cup is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland in partnership with the Bundaberg Regional Council, Bundaberg and North Burnett Tourism and promoted as part of the It’s Live! in Queensland event calendar.
