Skiff Report | 11 March 2018 | Veterans Race
A Beautiful day at Belmont on Sunday for our annual Ladies Day Luncheon and Veterans race.
The ladies had a nice day upstairs whilst the old Skiff Sailors did battle on the bay. A light easterly breeze was blowing making for ideal conditions. It was great to see old rivalries re-born and there were schooner bets aplenty in the lead up.
The old OAS crew teamed up on Piper Planning and had a ding dong battle with Greg Searant on-board East Coast at the front of the fleet. Boydy, Dimps and Sog sailed a great race eventually splitting these 2 to get 2nd spot. Steve Graham did a good job on TJS and Dave Hale was a standout on Minder as the first veteran steering that skippered the skiffs back in the 140 single luff days. Willy was getting the kites up and down just like he was still on-board the mighty Castrian Homes.
Bruiser Turner edged out Jed Sutcliff in the best old school wetsuit competition.
