Skiff Report | 25 February 2018

2 races on Sunday for the Belmont 16ft Skiffs.
All the boats flew black ribbons as a mark of respect for John Sullivan who sadly passed away recently. John was a former skiff sailor here at Belmont and our deepest sympathies are with the Sullivan Family.
After having Big Rigs in for the first half of the season the skiffs have had quite a bit of breeze since the Nationals break. A fresh Southerly breeze was blowing and all skiffs were on a small rig except Piper Planning.
The Winter Olympic Silver Medallist, Matt Graham, was filling in as skipper of Aristocrat and our congratulations go to Matt for an awesome performance in Pyeongchang.
The Young Guns on TJS dominated the days racing with fine display of sailing. They claimed fastest time in the first race which was a handicap start. East Coast Marine & Sail also did well despite a quick swim on the last work. The up and coming Youngsters on Schweppes sailed a great race to take out the handicap victory closely followed by another Young skipper with Jordan Makin steering KOFM into 2nd spot. One of our Veteran skippers Trev on Hahn Super Dry rounded out the podium.
