Skiff Report

The Pelican Sailors had a ride in the 16ft Skiffs in the morning. It was pretty windy on the way to the start but the breeze dropped off for the race.

Pepsi Max had Rowan on board and they took out the win. Rowan is one of our newer sailors on a Club owned Pelican and he had such a great time and had such a huge smile that his Dad is preparing to buy him a Skiff when he’s old enough! The kids had a great time.

The 1st of the afternoon races was a handicap start, the breeze was all over the place making the race a real challenge. To stay in the small puffs of wind would mean victory.

Sheldo, Gaz & Craig have done a lot of their sailing on the waters of Teralba at the western end of the lake and they have mastered  the skills required to win in these conditions. And win they did! Not only were they 1st across the line to take out the Handicap they blitzed the boys that grew up sailing on Belmont Bay and took out the win on scratch as well.

Gary “ Gus” Telford was a Young Gun Superstar on the Mighty TAA back in the day and he made his comeback on-board the TJS. I normally call the TJS the Young Guns, but Gus certainly bumped up their average age. He did guide the youngsters to a nice 2nd spot on scratch.

Trevor has been sailing in the Bow on his boat Hahn Super Dry. We’re not sure if he was promoted to the steering position or sacked back there because he’s a lousy For ‘hand, but the change worked a treat and they grabbed 2nd on Handicap.

The next race had the breeze settle a little but it was still light and shifty. Young Emma Jones guided the Belmont Bay Constructions to another daily double win taking out both scratch and handicap.
