Fun Times & Great Results at the CHS Sailing Championship

Our B16ftSC sailors did exceptionally well and most importantly had lots of fun at the CHS held at the Club last week.

The Australian Secondary School Sailing Championship was won by Tom Crockett & Tom Grimes (29er), 2nd John Cooley & Simon Hoffman (29er), 4th Bailey Hord (13ft Glider), 5th Thomas Steenson & Aimee Gallaway (Flying11).

In the Class results Thomas Steenson & Aimee Gallaway won the Flying 11s (from a massive fleet of 36), Jarrod Turner (& Lateisha Bower) won the Cherubs, Jed Fatches (& Arbi Watt) placed 3rd in the Hobie 16 and Tom Crockett & Tom Grimes won the 29ers with John Cooley & Simon Hoffman pushed to second on a count back.

For the Combined High Schools Championship, Tom Crockett & Tom Grimes won Division 1, Lauren Gallaway & Claire Byrne placed 4th in Division 2 (sailing a 420) and Bailey Hord won Division 3 (sailing a 13ft Glider)

In the NSW All Schools Championship, Tom C & Tom G took out Division 1, Bailey H took out Division 3 and Thomas S & Aimee G took out Division 4.

Race winners calculated on time across all fleets/division/classes;

Race 1 – Henry Makin (Moth Foiler)

Race 2 – John Cooley & Simon Hoffman (29er)

Race 4 - Henry Makin (Moth Foiler)

Race 5 – Thomas Steenson & Aimee Gallaway (Flying 11)

Race 6 – Tom Crockett & Tom Grimes (29er)

WOW! 5 out of 6 race wins to B16ftSC sailors!

We experienced a mixed bag of wind conditions from 30+ knot squalls to light 7-10 knots on the final day. It is always a fun regatta for the kids and we were pleased to see so many of our B16ftSC sailors racing in the event.

We had a wonderful band of B16ftSC volunteers supporting the event without whom the regatta just would not happen – we THANK YOU all so very much for your support.

Next year will see the 50th CHS Sailing Championship sailed from the 12th to 16th April 2016.
