Flying 11 States - Silver & Bronze with Five in the Top 10!

Nine of our B16ftSC Flying 11 crews made the trip down to Drummoyne Sailing Club for the final heats of their NSW State Championship over the weekend.

Only four of the scheduled six races were completed, all in light winds, with crews having to wait on shore on the Saturday for the wind to pick up and be strong enough to enable boats to compete against the tide! Our crews raced extremely well with good results in the challenging conditions!

Hammertime (Tom C & Thomas D) finished with the Silver, only 2 points behind winners Shot Gun from Manly and our ever consistent Hydromatic (Stephen & Rebecca H) took the bronze.

Oscar (Tom S & Jed F) placed 5th with 1392 (Thomas S & Aimee G) in 8th and 1401 (Lauren G & Chelsea Williams) in 9th to complete Belmont’s domination of the Top 10.

Blubird (Emma J & Karma R) were just outside, finishing in 12th and Flight Time (Marcus L & Beau P) finished 26th and posted a creditable 10th place in race 8 in the tricky conditions.

Spitfire (James R & Angus J) should be well pleased with winning the Silver Fleet and taking a race win in Race 10. Elavation (Felix P & Marc C) finished 16th in the Silver Fleet and are showing great improvement with a significant jump in finishing places in this second round – using all that knowledge & experience gained from attending their first Nationals in Qld! – great work guys!

Our club will host the 2015-16 Flying 11 Australian Championship next season – looking forward to more great racing!
