Skiff Report | 4 March 2018
The Belmont 16ft skiffs had Club Championship heat 6 on Sunday and the snakes and ladders on the overall leader board between TJS and Redicrete continued.
Another small rig southerly breeze was blowing.
East Coast Marine & Sail got a great start at the pin end and used their speed to good effect to hit the lead. TJS, Fire Stopping, Insight Building, Redicrete and Southern Beaches Rugby were in the chasing pack. Compass Global Markets had Dimps on the sheet and Spesh back on the wheel and they joined the lead bunch.
East Coast had built a comfortable lead, but a spinnaker issue saw that lead whittled away and TJS even snuck into the lead in the dying stages. There was a little bit of a bingle between the 2 leaders at top mark on the last time around and it was anyone’s race as they ran towards the finish with East Coast Marine getting the win [their first scratch start win at the Club].
IGT did well again to get another handicap win.
1st – East Coast Marine & Sail – Matt, Scott & Corey
2nd – TJS – Henry, Grant & Izzy
3rd – Fire Stopping – Will, Richard & Rohan
1st – IGT – Don, Mitch & Joe
2nd - Minder – Rosey, Dobo & Dave
3rd - East Coast Marine & Sail – Matt, Scott & Corey
The overall Club Championship is tight with the Young Guns on TJS just 1 point in front of Redicrete and the East Coast just a further point behind.
