Flying 11 States - All Girls Champions

Ten of our Flying 11 crews travelled to Avalon Sailing Club on the waters of Pittwater for the final five heats of the 2015-16 NSW State Championship.

Four of our teams finished in the Top 10. Oscar (Jed F & William B) finished in 6th, just 2 points ahead of team mates Hammertime (Tom D & Brin L) in 7th. Silly Galah (Thomas S & Cameron B/Emily F) took out 9th overall with their best race result being a 4th and Hydromatic (Rebecca H & Eve P) took a race WIN in Race 9 and finished the series in 10th.

Hydromatic won the All Girls Championship by a convincing margin. Congratulations Rebecca & Eve!  Oscar won the “First Year Skipper” division, with Hammertime placing second as well as second in the Under 15years division.

Flight Time (Marcus L & Beau P) finished in 15th overall with their best race a 4th in Race 3. The second half of the series at Avalon proved the best for the team on Ondalay (Aimee G & Chelsea W) with four races all in or around 10th place. They finished in 18th overall. Spitfire (James R & Angus J) posted a number of teens race placings to finish in 24th.

The fast improving guys on Holy Smokes (Felix P & Rhys M) threw in an 8th race placing in Race 7 at Avalon to bring their overall finish place up to 36th. Hot Chilli (Kelsey T & Georgia S) enjoyed the inland waters a bit more than the ocean at Cronulla to post some good results and finish in 39th overall. The Sudden Impact team (Sarah H & Jacinta A) also enjoyed their racing at Avalon after not being able to sail in four races at Cronulla due to their boat being holed by another competitor. The girls finished in 44th overall.

The standard of sailing in the Flying 11 class is fantastic and a fleet of 67 boats makes for some enjoyable competition. Well done to all of our Belmont crews, we are very proud of you and thank you to the parents who transport the kids & boats to these events so they may keep learning, keep improving and gain more experience.

Have a look at the final results . . .
