Jack Dimery claims the 2016 Phelan Medal

East Coast Eagles star Jack Dimery has claimed the 2016 Phelan Medal as he capped off an outstanding year where he took his game to the next level revealing himself as a national talent.

Dimery, who is 24 years of age claimed the 2016 Phelan Medal as he topped off a successful year which saw him emerge as a national AFL talent as he contested in the Premier Division as well as the reality football show, The Recruit.

Jack Dimery had a brilliant year amassing 17 votes in a stand out season where he played 13 matches and kicked 9 goals. Jack polled well all season receiving votes on seven occasions. He started the season slowly missing some matches with filming commitments for The Recruit. Once he began playing matches he polled strongly especially at the tail end of the year where he was strong between Rounds 11 and 16. His performances were impressive all year and as such he was able to collect 4 best on ground performances where he was able to get the 3 votes.

Winning the Phelan Medal will mean AFL Club recruiters will be having a close look at the star midfielder and there is a possibility he may be given a chance in the AFL next season.

Youngster Jai Lyons of UTS finished off a strong debut year in the Premier division in second place with 15 votes with Sam Carruthers of the North Shore Bombers in third.
