UTS Claim Division Four Title
UTS have claimed the Division Four premiership with a 29 point victory over Wollondilly at Blacktown today.
UTS lead at each break and recorded their first premiership in Division Four since 2002 with a 9.8 to 5.3 victory.
The Bats came out of the blocks flying, kicking four goals to one in the opening quarter. Heath Mitchell set the tone for the Bats racking up plenty of possessions in the opening quarter.
Wollondilly came out strong in the second quarter, throwing themselves at the contest and started to win more of the ball. Despite having plenty of the ball, the Knights could only kick two goals to one in the second term to trail by 15 points at the main break.
The third quarter was another tight tussle with both teams unable to assert any real dominance on the contest. UTS managed two goals to one in the quarter to take a 27 point lead into the last quarter.
Like most of the game, the two sides were evenly matched in the last quarter with both sides kicking two goals each and when the final time siren went the celebrations started for the Bats.
Heath Mitchell was superb for the Bats and was awarded the Best on Ground medal and received good support from midfielders Dustin Teasdale and John Whealans. For the Knights, David Wolfe, Luke Osbourne and Brendan Cockerill battled hard all day.
