AFL Sydney Top 20 Players - Number 3

3 - Brayden Fowler

Club: Manly-Warringah

Previous: Gippsland- TAC Cup (2009-10), Casey Scorpions- VFL (2011-13)

Age: 21

Position: Full-Forward

Analysis:

Fowler is the best forward in the competition and while recent weeks may have dinted the chances, is not without hope of becoming the first centurion goal kicker since former WAFL star, Gus Seebeck (111 in 2009) and before him Chris Dale a decade earlier (102).

Fowler came to Sydney with a big reputation and has handled it well despite being double-teamed on a weekly basis.

He is a perfect size for his position- tall with great core strength and speed off the mark.

At just 21 years of age he should still be well on the radar of a few AFL clubs much like Dane Rampe who dominated the competition in 2012 given the time it takes for key position players to develop.

He played 19 VFL games with Casey and was a member of the VFL and AIS Academies. In a fillip for Manly-Warringah, he was quoted in the Manly Daily recently as loving his time in Sydney.

"The move to Sydney has been brilliant," the 21-year old said.

"I was in a rut in Melbourne and not enjoying my footy all that much.

"The boys at Casey Scorpions were fine.

"I just needed a change to freshen things up."

Fowler was named best afield after a haul of eight goals in the AFL Sydney Representative clash against AFL Canberra (watched by a number of NEAFL clubs) and will be a good chance to poll strongly on Phelan Medal Night to go with the Stan Milton Medal that he has all but tied up already.
