If you’re from a Netball or Football Club, Social or Business group, or just some friends looking for a bit fun while keeping active, then AFL 9’s could be the game for you.
AFL 9s is the AFL’s social version of football. It is a fast, free-flowing game that involves nine players on each team with an unlimited interchange bench, played on a smaller field.
Best of all it is ‘touch football’ with no tackling or bumping, making it suitable for people of any age or skill level. This year’s competition is to commence on the 18th of October for 10 consecutive weeks concluding with the Grand Final on 20 December.
Going into its 5th season, AFL Goulburn Murray Development Manager Mark Lambourn says the competition has grown every year.
“The 2016 season was a lot of fun with eight teams competing” he said.
“Launch It were once again the competition champions and we are looking forward to them defending their crown and also for another team to challenge their recent dominance.”
“The games are social but also competitive and with a game time of less than an hour it is a great way to play sport during twilight.”
“With an improved focus on personal health and wellbeing, participating in a community event, and being involved in a competition, can only enhance your health while having fun along the way.”
“All games are played at Kialla Recreation Reserve with the first games to kick off at 5.45pm each week.”
