Commissioners Andrew Chittick and Nick Nagle were re-elected unopposed at the AFL Goulburn Murray Annual General Meeting held at Kialla Park Community Centre on Thursday 30 March.
The Commission also approved its Annual Report and 2016 Participation Summary which are now available to be downloaded from the AFL Goulburn Murray website.
In addressing members at the meeting AFL Goulburn Murray Chairman Nicholas Rolfe summarised a productive 2015/2016 financial year for the Commission.
“The Commission once again experienced significant growth during 2016 with staffing and the Commission’s financial investment all increasing” he said.
“A number of key programs were also initiated with the Club Development Program for club volunteers and the Youth Development Academy key projects alongside a massive event delivery program involving the State NAB AFL Auskick launch in Echuca, two AFL Australia Post Community Camps, the Essendon v Geelong AFL NAB Challenge game at Deakin Reserve and the AFL National Female Diversity Championships in Shepparton.”
“With the wind up of the VCFL last year key governance changes are also being rolled out at the moment with Leagues now affiliating to the local Commission in order to access AFL Victoria insurances, the AFL Player Transfer system, SportsTG competition management, etc.”
“Along with the new affiliation process was the announcement from AFL Victoria for all Leagues and umpire associations to be part of their local Region Administration Centre by the 2019 season so we will be working with non-participating Leagues to establish timelines for this to occur.”
“The formation of the new women’s league in partnership with AFL Central Vic and AFL Central Murray is exceeding expectations and over the next month the Commission will be launching a Future Directions review into the structure and pathways of junior football across the region.”
“Two major club development projects on the radar for this year are the roll out of the BlueQ software program to assist volunteers in complying with the new Child Safety Standards and the development of a drug policy to be implemented across the region.”
“Our current strategic plan will also be under review as we enter our fourth year and a Strategic Plan Scorecard has been produced which is tracking our progress against our Strategic Objectives.”
