Season Preview: Perth Glory

Football West News

Perth Glory will continue to look inwardly in search of improvement as they head into the 2017 season.

Glory coach John Gibson said his young team would aim to be “seriously competitive” against their more experienced opponents.

“Our biggest rival this year will be ourselves with consistency our major challenge,” Gibson said. “Our focus and priority will be ourselves.”

Glory finished 10th in the 12-team competition in 2016, four points clear of last-placed Subiaco.

Important victories over the likes of Sorrento and eventual champions Perth SC were crucial in keeping Glory off the bottom.

Gibson believes a balanced competition will produce an element of unpredictability this season.

“All 13 teams will be tough and with strong and equal competition, any team can win,” he said.

Glory have named Jackson Morgan and Daniel Stynes as co-captains for the season.
