David Micevski claims McInernery Ford Gold Medal

Football West News

Stirling Lions attacker David Micevski has been awarded the McInernery Ford Gold Medal and Ford Fiesta car for the second time after a sensational Playstation 4 National Premier Leagues WA season.

Micevski, who claimed the crown in 2009, was named the local competition’s best player at tonight’s glittering celebration of WA football at the Crown Perth Ballroom.

The 30-year-old, who had a stint at Perth Glory in the 2005-06 Hyundai A-League season, was man-of-the-match on nine occasions and accumulated an astounding 38 votes to finish ahead of Armadale’s Jesse Fuller (27 votes).

Last year’s winner, Ludovic Boi, picked up 21 votes, equal to his Floreat Athena teammate Dean Evans.

Micevski was also in close contention for the Golden Boot award after scoring 17 goals this season but was edged out by Perth’s Gustavo Catarcione and ECU Joondalup’s Gordon Smith, who both scored 19.

Smith’s goal-scoring contribution was reflected in the 27 votes he picked up in an impressive campaign.

Lions’ Teeboy Kamara picked up the Dylan Tombides Young Player of the Year award after a superb season, which earned him a place in the inaugural Playstation 4 Player Pathway with teammate Lukas De Lima and Perth’s Matthew Milenkovic.

Francis Soale’s stellar season with PS4 NPLWA League and The West Australian Top Four Cup winners Perth SC earned him the Select Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Joondalup United’s Lee Jones was awarded the All Flags State League Division One Player of the Year and Fremantle City’s Alec Robinson took the honours for Division Two.

W-League star Marianna Tabain was crowned Bankwest Women’s State Premier League Player of the Year.

Perth Royal’s Nick Calkin won the Consolidated Energy Amateur Premier League Player of the Year.

David Bruce was awarded the Bankwest Golden Whistle as the state’s best match official.
