Inglewood United retained top spot after a convincing 5-2 win over Armadale at Inglewood Stadium on Saturday.

Inglewood striker Kenny Keogh bagged his second brace in two games to bring his tally to eight goals this season.

It was the seventh win after eight rounds for high-flying Inglewood.

Man of the match Keogh praised his team mates.

“We played an excellent game,” he said. “Our current form comes as no surprise to me. We had an excellent pre-season and we work very hard and professional with coach Taki Nicolaidis.”

It took Inglewood only seven minutes to find the back of the net with Keogh making a quick break down the right and picking out striker Brian Woodall, who made no mistake.

Inglewood were in control but failed to create more danger in front of goalkeeper Alfie Brincat.

Armadale did not look dangerous either, but scored from their first opportunity. Dylan White equalised in the 28th minute after good work from Papa Kpatar.

Inglewood quickly took the lead again through Calum O’Connell after a cross from the left.

Inglewood lost striker Woodall after he dislocated a finger shortly before half-time, but they showed in the second half why they’re leading the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues WA.

Migas scored Inglewood’s third before a brace by Keogh made it 5-1 for Inglewood.

Armadale’s White scored his second goal of the game in the 89th minute but the visitors had been no match for the leaders.

Armadale coach Paul Price was very disappointed with his team’s performance.

“I don’t think Inglewood was that good. We gave away four really bad goals,” he said.

“You cannot win that way. Some of my players just gave up the last 20 minutes of the game. This was the worst performance since I’ve been with the team.”

Next week, Armadale play host to Sorrento while Inglewood will look to extend their lead at the top of the table against Subiaco.

Nicolaidis said his side needed to concentrate on the upcoming matches.

“We now have a couple of games against teams from the bottom half,” he said.

“Those are dangerous games. We have to keep our focus and should not get carried away.”
