Woden-Weston 4 (Cassia McGlashan 19', Anna Vandenbroucke 22', Geraldine Longo 38', Alana Bain 87')def. Monaro Panthers FC 1 (Cynthia Bangita 34')

Woden-Weston finished off their season on a winning note with a 4-1 victory against Monaro Panthers on Sunday afternoon.

A three-goal first half and a late strike from Alana Bain proved more than enough as the Panthers struggled to get into the contest.

The Wanderers began the game on the front foot and went ahead just 19 minutes in through Cassia McGlashan, and it took only another three for Anna Vandenbroucke to double the lead with a good finish.

Monaro worked their way back into the game though and a goal with 11 minutes left in the half from Cynthia Bangita appeared to have them back in the game, only for Geraldine Longo’s strike to restore the home lead to two goals at the half-time break.

The second half proved to be a much quieter affair as both sides struggled to break through, but Alana Bain put the icing on the cake with three minutes left in regulation as she slotted home to seal the lead at three goals and wrap up the season with a strong win.

Canberra FC 2 (Marcia Caporn 51’, Grace Gill 85’) def. Tuggeranong United Football Club 1 (Rhiannon Daisley 90’)

Canberra FC ensured they will head into the finals on a winning run with a 2-1 win against Tuggeranong United on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts were looking to rebound from a narrow loss to the Canberra United Academy in midweek, and came out of the blocks strong to begin the game.

But they were unable to find a way through in the first 45 thanks to some staunch defence from the visitors and the two sides remained locked goalless at the break.

It took only six minutes of the second half for the hosts to secure the lead when Marcia Caporn netted and Mark Risteski’s side looked to control the game from there. They held the momentum for much of the second half and a goal from Grace Gill five minutes from time effectively sealed the result.

There was still time for late drama though as Rhiannon Daisley netted in the 90th minute but it was too little, too late for Tuggeranong as they remained winless to finish off the season.

Gungahlin United FC Premier League 0 def. by Belconnen United 3 (Jessie Williams 34', Jessie Rasschaert 51', Gemma Murphy 87')

Belconnen United ended Gungahlin United’s slim hopes of a top four berth with a three-goal win on Sunday afternoon in their Round 21 clash.

Both sides began the game strongly and the contest was a tough affair early on, with the visitors making it tough for Gungahlin to break through and threaten.

And 34 minutes in Belconnen made their strength in the midfield battle count as Jessie Williams opened the scoring and the score remained that way at the break with the visitors up by one.

The finals dream was all but gone by this point for Gungahlin but that did not slow them down and they came out strong to begin the second half.

Jessie Rasschaert put a dagger in them six minutes into the half to double the difference though, and Nat Lacey did well to stop a number of 1-on-1 situations throughout the half to keep the hosts scoreless.

Gemma Murphy put the icing on the cake with three minutes to go as she fired home to push the lead to three goals and continue the undefeated season.
