Preview:
MetroStars are ready to settle the score when they host an in form Raiders this Saturday in Round 18 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia.
The Klemzig based side is ready to make amends following the heaving defeat to the visitors back in Round 5 of the competition.
Metro number 10 player Perry Mitris says they must be ready for a game on Saturday avoiding similar mistakes.
“Last time we played them we were beaten three-nil so I think our mental approach towards the game needs to be spot on this week.”
The attacking threat Raiders possess is something that Mitris is well aware of and says the defensive duties will be the whole squad’s obligation.
“They are very good going forward and obviously have very good attacking players. If we defend from the front it will go a long way to securing the three points.”
“Everyone needs to defend, so that’s not just defenders. It needs to happen further up the ground.”
Raiders centre-back Jackson Stephens believes if his side are able to convert goal scoring opportunities it will lead to a positive outcome.
“Going on our season so far the games that we have usually dominated and done well is when we’ve taken our opportunities early on so for us in particular that’s crucial.”
“You still have to be patient because sometimes things don’t go your way so we need to stay tight as a unit and put our chances away.”
The defender is hoping the pace of the likes of team-mate, Elvis Kamsoba, is enough to exploit the Metro backline.
“They are very experienced and have an older defence line so we hope to expose that but we have got to play our game which can be counter attacking.”
Mitris knows their superior ladder position doesn’t make them favourites to collect all three points.
“The team still wants to play finals and the confidence is high, we believe in our ability that we can get the job done.”
“It’s a game that will approach with caution and we need to be on our best to win.”
Following Monday’s triumph against Para Hills Knights, Stephens feels it’s a perfect result in preparation for MetroStars.
“To be able to come back from one nil down to win the game give us a boost in confidence coming into this weekend.”
