Campbelltown City McGrath Foundation Fundraiser

Campbelltwon City Soccer Club will be holding a fund raiser and turning pink on 14/02/2015 in support of the McGrath Foundation’s mission to raise money to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia and to increase breast awareness in young women.

The wider Cambelltown Council constituents can also get involved by attending the clubs first home game of the season and dressing up in a touch of pink.

McGrath Foundation Ambassador and Director, Tracy Bevan, says the McGrath Foundation continues to be blown away by the support from Australian communities which goes a long way in helping the Foundation ensure every family in Australia experiencing breast cancer has access to a breast care nurse no matter where they live or their financial circumstance.

“We are proud to have funded 100 McGrath Breast Care Nurses working nationally who together have supported over 25,000 Australian families experiencing breast cancer. Events like this are truly helping us to make a difference,” Tracy said.

Event organiser, Mary Centofanti , says “Everyone at the club is excited to turn pink and support the McGrath Foundation, and watching one of our senior goalies having his trademark pony tail cut off by his Mum. Nick has been growing his pony tail for 3 years, so there are a few people that can’t wait. The club will be hosting West Adelaide Soccer Club for all 3 matches of the day, Under 18’s, Reservers and Seniors.

"In another show of support the CCSC boys will be keepting their traditional red socks in the draw and will be wearing pink socks for this first home game. Come along and support this great cause, watch some fantastic soccer with plenty of food and drink available for purchase on the day.

"First game, under 18s start at 11am, Reserves 1 pm and Seniors game will start at 3pm, culminating in Nick having his pony tail cut on the pitch straight after the game, approx. 5pm.

"Hope to see you all there."

ABOUT THE MCGRATH FOUNDATION

Jane McGrath’s personal experience has seen a team of passionate and dedicated people come together and step up to the challenge of making life for families experiencing breast cancer just that little bit easier. Until there is a cure for breast cancer, the McGrath Foundation is committed to providing as much support as it can for families facing a breast cancer experience through the funding of McGrath Breast Care Nurses nationally, no matter where they live or their financial situation.

In addition, Jane’s diagnosis at just 31 made her passionate about encouraging young women to be breast aware by knowing their breasts and being aware of any changes. Again, from this inspiration, the McGrath Foundation has now developed the innovative Curve Lurve program which focuses on empowering young women to look after their bodies, know what’s normal for them and take action that promotes their own health and wellbeing, while at the same time debunking common community myths.
