The 2015 South Australia National Premier League kicks off Friday night with Adelaide Comets and Para Hills Knights battling it out at Santos Stadium with hopes of starting the season on a high.

Para Hills Knights went all in on their final game with Cumberland United last season, beating them 2-1 and placing them 9th on the Ladder for the season over all.

Adelaide Comets finished 5th on the Ladder but lost their final match against West Torrens Birkalla.

As the season approaches both teams have been focused on starting it well for their sides. Para Hills Knights Captain Matthew Marchioro stated that changes have occurred in the way the Knights have been training and that they have been working on their shape a lot more.

“We are going to treat this game like every other and hope for the best” said Marchioro.

Coach Simon Catanzaro said that he is hoping to get off to a new start but understands the pressure that is placed on this due to the Round 1 fixture taking place on Comets home turf, however he notes that the recent recruiting of new players and changes in the way that they are hoping to start the season well.

The Knights bring in a number of changes to their 2015 squad with Sherwin Emmanuel formerly of Raiders, Yuto Nagai of HBO Toyko, Ben De Bono of Playford Patriots, Foti Likouris of Adelaide Cobras and Nick Guglielmucci of Western Toros all now at The Paddocks.

Comets have brought in Patrick Deruvo from Adelaide City, Thibault Desclaux of Jullian & Orlei France and promoted Theo Balomenos, Arturo Garuccio and Jakob Loechel from the 2014 Reserves side.

It has been a while since the two teams last met on the pitch, but Comets Captain, Stephen Warner told that looking at the upcoming season, his side aims to main a prominent position on the ladder.

“Not much has been changed with our training but we are hoping to improve and move higher up on the ladder.”
