Preview:

Modbury Jets will look to escape the relegation battle by gaining three valuable points when they host Raiders at Jet Park on Friday night in round 20 of the Play Station 4 National Premier League South Australia.

Jets’ stalwart Tim Henderson gave a clear indication of how important this week is.

“Obviously it’s getting to that stage of the season where it’s getting tight at the bottom of the table and every game is a Grand Final from now on and it’s very important to get the three points on Friday night.”

After some dramatic late winners against Adelaide Comets and Adelaide Blue Eagles, Henderson said his side is keen to get on their good foot from kick off.

“We’re a team that never gives up and we’ll play to the final whistle no matter what the score line. Scoring those goals late on always gives us hope of scoring in any minute of the match and especially late on.”

Henderson also spoke about some new additions who are returning from overseas that should complement the Jets outfield.

“We’ve got the two Strain (Tom and Ryan) boys back from England this week, they’re both attacking players and they’ll both helps us in the attacking area so we’ll look to get on the scoresheet early and put Raiders on the front foot.”

One man who will be doing everything in his power to stop the Jets is Raiders’ Jackson Stephens who talked about how his side will approach the Friday night lights of Jet Park.

“It’s a do or die for both teams and for us three points is a must and it’ll be the same for them and Friday night will be a real battle.”

Their talisman Elvis Kamsoba has found the back of the net 13 times but Stephens wanted to make it clear there’s more to winning than just relying on Kamsoba.

“Elvis has had a great season but there are 11 players on the park so it comes down to every individual performing their individual role and doing what they need to do so we work well as a unit. We’re not going to win the game just off Elvis, it needs a solid effort from everyone on the park.”

With that in mind, Stephens remained confident his side could grab an important three points.

“Modbury Friday night with their home ground is always a good fight but I’m confident that if we play our game and take our chances we should win but it will come down to which side wants it more.”
