White City host Croydon Kings as both sides will look to put their campaigns back on track as they face off in round 10 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia. After both sides suffered losses in their previous outings, you can bet they’ll both be hungry for the win.
If you needed any reminder of how important this match will be for the Kings, Andreas Weins gave a strong reminder during the week.
“We’re treating this game and the next few as finals, at this time of the season we really have to step up and it’ll be like do or die. This game on Saturday will be like a Cup Final and I think the boys will be keen to get out there.”
He also spoke about what Senior Coach Mark Brazzale wants from his side.
“I think he just wants us to keep possession and keep control of the game. We’ve made too many costly mistakes that have cost us games, he’s not happy with the performances and it comes down to the players.”
Weins knows they’ll also have to be executing to the best of their ability this weekend.
“In this league, you never know, any team on their day can beat anyone and they got some strong individuals especially going forward and they’re coming off a loss like so it will be a good and competitive game.”
His opponent aren’t hiding away from their previous form either as Chahine Noujaim was upfront and honest when talking about his side’s recent form.
“I think it just comes down to the mentality of the individuals when the chances have arisen. Both Pirates and Modbury had two or three chances resulting from individual mistakes and buried them as opposed to us who have not been clinical compared to games in the past.”
Noujaim didn’t have to be told about the character and strength of his upcoming opponent either.
“It seems this year even with key injuries that regardless if they (Croydon) concede they always managed to outscore their opponents…and with them having one of the best players in the league with Rocky (Visconte) they are always a threat.”
Despite the upcoming threat, Noujaim was confident his side has plenty to push the likes of Croydon.
“In saying that we have a handful of top quality players who can turn a game on its head such as Miki Petkovic and Nicola Mileusnic so getting them on the ball early will be crucial.”
