MetroStars Continue on Finals Series Journey

S.A. National Premier League (NPL) Minor Premiers MetroStars travel to Melbourne this weekend ahead of their second PlayStation 4 National Premier League Finals Series match.

MetroStars defeated Perth outfit Bayswater City in Round 1 of the competition on penalties and now face a strong side in South Melbourne on Sunday in the Semi Final.

Coach Ivan Karlovic noted the conditions played a part in the Bayswater City match.

“It was difficult and difficult for both sides. It was extremely hot and windy, being over 34 degrees it was something that both sides weren’t used to. When we left Adelaide on the Friday it was 18 degrees, so it was a challenge and it made it difficult to play the style of game we like to play. As a result though it was a pretty even contest and we are glad we got through.”

South Melbourne progressed to the Semi Final after defeating South Hobart in Tasmania on Sunday and Karlovic is aware of the strength the Victorian side has, noting that traveling again this weekend will add another aspect.

“We know they are a good side, they have had a great season and they have good quality all over the park, so we will have to give it our best shot.

“The travel is not easy, especially as it is not something that we are used to but we see it as a great challenge. Perth is a difficult trip and hard to back up from at the best of times, but we are in good condition, the boys are feeling good and we are ready to go.”

Karlovic is confident in his side and the possibility of qualifying for the Final.

“I can’t see why not. We are confident in our ability and we know it will be a difficult game but we feel we have enough quality to progress and hopefully progress to the Final.”
