Preview:

Adelaide City and Fulham United go head to head for the Women’s Premier & State League Cup hoping to generate some momentum before the PlayStation 4 Women’s National Premier League Finals Series kicks off next weekend.

After finishing the WNPL season in second and third place respectively, both sides will be desperate to claim their share of the silverware on offer.

Having beaten 2016 WNPL Premiers, Metro United, in the semi-final to advance to Friday’s game, Adelaide City will be full of confidence to add a first Women’s Premier Division Cup since 2011 to an already bulging trophy cabinet.

Fulham haven’t reached this stage since 2010, when they were defeated by Friday’s opponents 5-2, there’s no doubt they’ll be eager to reverse their fortunes.

Fulham United haven’t claimed the Premier Division Cup since 2005 and the club song is sure to be belted out loud and proud by the Collins Reserve Club if they’re successful on Friday evening.

If Fulham United are to be victorious, they’ll do well to stop Adelaide City’s leading goalscorer, Daniela Di Bartolo, who has scored an incredible 16 goals in 20 matches in the 2016 WNPL Season.

However, in Georgia Macri, Victoria Balomenos and Louise Tiani the women in yellow have a trio which have proven they are capable of finding the net and will be sure to test a well drilled City defence.

In the three league meetings between the pair this season, Adelaide City has edged Fulham United by a solitary goal on two occasions meaning a clash which goes the full distance to a tense penalty shootout will be a high possibility.
