Preview:

Both Croydon Kings and South Adelaide will have a lot to play for when they do battle in Round 22 of the South Australia National Premier League.

Third-placed Croydon can wrap up their spot in the top six and potentially regain second spot with a win, while South Adelaide could all but guarantee their place in the top division next season if they gain all three points.

Both sides come into the match off the back of 2-2 draws, but under very different circumstances.
Croydon came from two goals down to snatch a point against Adelaide Blue Eagles, whereas the Panthers let a 2-0 lead slip to draw at home with West Torrens Birkalla.

Croydon’s Luke Klimek praised the character shown by his team in last week’s draw with Blue Eagles.
“It was very important, more so for the team, because we showed great character in coming from behind and obviously the point will help us a lot in the end of the season,” Klimek said.

Klimek said Croydon have prepared no differently for Saturday’s match.

“Our preparation has been as normal as always, nothing has really changed; we’re just focusing on getting the three points,” he said.

“We’ve just got to continue playing our style of game, shutting teams down and trying to play our possession game as always.”

South Adelaide currently sit in 10th place, but a loss could see them fall back into a relegation dogfight.

Captain Christopher Reed said his side will not switch off like they did against Birkalla last week.

“They scored late in the game and we just stopped with five minutes to go,” Reed said.

“It’s very disappointing dropping two points because three points would have just about made us safe.”

Reed said the Panthers have had a solid week on the tracks in preparation for Saturday’s clash.

“A win would take a bit of pressure off in the back end of season, so we’ll be playing for the three points like always,” Reed said.

“We’ve just prepared like every other week, we remain confident and we’re hoping we can get the three points.”

Croydon scored a 2-1 away win when these two sides faced off in Round 9.
