It’s set to be spicy this week, when Campbelltown City host the freshly usurped Adelaide Comets, in Round 7 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia.

Campbelltown have had a difficult draw in the past few weeks, and it doesn’t look like it'll be getting any easier for them with their game this week against current second place Adelaide Comets.

"We're going to approach it the same way we've approached every other game—we're extremely confident going into each and every game.

"It's been a test for us in the last couple of weeks [against] West Adelaide and Adelaide City—they've probably been the benchmark in the past, so it's been good to see where we're at.

"We didn't get the right results, but at least we know where we are as a group … we've got a lot of work to do and as long as we can match it with teams like that, then we know we've got something to build upon," says Iain Fyfe, Captain of Campbelltown City.

It'll be a chance for both teams to wear the head honcho hat for at least a week, but, three other teams will also be vying for the top-spot.

"It's very important, especially after our loss last week—it was a good game, I guess, for the spectator, but not for us.

"We should have possibly held on for a draw, but we go into this game, again, full of confidence—we look at positives—and Comets are a good team, but we know we have the quality to do some damage in this league."

Going into the game this week, off the back of last week's 4-3 loss to Adelaide City, there's a bit of pressure on the side to perform, but, Fyfe says, "it's good pressure".

"It's not something you want to shy away from because it's going to improve the league, throughout the years—there's a lot of good teams, on a good level at the moment. There's never an easy game, and there's a surprise result each week."

Campbelltown and Comets have been there before, and have remained there or thereabouts, lingering near the top, but it's been an elusive spot to hold on to, so far this season.

“Ultimately each week, we can look at these teams and say that there are plenty of good teams, but when it comes to it, we're just concentrating on ourselves … and of course, eventually, turning that form into results."

It's a spot that Campbelltown are working towards winning back, after losing it to Comets in the fourth round.

Personally, Fyfe says he's enjoyed his time so far at Campbelltown, surrounded by "good people, good volunteers, and great people running the club".

He also thinks that there's plenty of potential at the club, for younger players to pursue careers in the game—if they want it enough.

"The players are a great bunch of young boys—they need to understand that they're at the right age to be tapping on the door to wherever they want to go.

"If they want to be professional footballers, this is where they've got to do it … the chances are there, you've seen it happen in the past, and that should be their motivation."

As a senior player, he also takes great pride in his position as both a mentor, and as the captain of the club—he's motivated to make his players take their game to the next level.

"It's a great feeling—it's a pleasure … they're all great kids, and they're great footballers.

"You don't really have to do much with them … but they need to understand that every day, every training session, you have to put in one hundred percent."

At the behest of Campbeltown's loss last week to Adelaide City (4-3), Comets were pulled back to second place—on goal difference— and it's a gap they'll look to bridge this week.

"We want to bounce back from last week—we want to be around the top, so it's a really important game this week," says Steve Grelli of Adelaide Comets.

It's easier said than done against a successful team like Campbelltown, who have won just one less game than Comets this season and held the top spot for four rounds.

"We've played quite a few good teams so far, but I think our next round of games are going to be a good test.

"Campbelltown look pretty good this year, so if we're able to get the three points I guess we can say we deserve to be at the top."

In his first season at Comets, Grelli says he's enjoying his time, and he hopes that there will be plenty "more years to come", in his future at the club.

"After spending quite a time at Metro Stars it's been really positive so far, and I've enjoyed myself, and I look forward to the rest of the year.

"The club are looking to do big things, and it's a pleasure to be involved."

In the coming fixtures, he hopes that the team can continue to stick with the basics, and continue to take each game, week by week.

“I think winning breeds confidence, so I think if we can keep grinding out wins, the boys can keep that confidence going, and hopefully it continues."
