Preview:

MetroStars and White City will both avoid sharing the spoils as the two sides lock horns at TK Shutter Reserve in Round 20 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia.

City man Miki Petkovic says it’s a massive game for his side but is optimistic over a good result given their recent meetings.

“We respect Metro but we've played them twice already this year and got two good results so we're coming into the game confident as we would with any other game.”

After picking up a point from each their last three outings, Petkovic feels that good fortune awaits them on Saturday.

Three draws in a row wasn't the best result for us given the situation we're in but 1 point from each game is better than none. I believe we are due for a win and we deserve it, we need maximum points so we'll come out firing and leave everything on the park.”

Despite being several positions lower on the ladder, Metro midfielder Perry Mitris knows how much of a threat the away side are.

“The table doesn’t really matter this year. In our past meeting with White City they beat us and we drew with them so it’s going to be a tough game but I’m confident that if we play the best of our ability then we should win the game.”

Petkovic feels the confidence amongst the squad is high and says victory could be a game changer in their bid to survive.

“Despite being down the bottom of the table, confidence around the team is as good as it's ever been, we're in this together and we know one win will light the spark for the rest of the season and many more wins will follow.”

Mitris is well aware of the dangers that may confront them but remains faithful on the home side’s abilities.

“We know what they are like. We’ve played them twice this year and they have some good players going forward, quite tall and solid in defence and their midfield are pretty experienced.”

“They got a few danger payers that we need to take mind of but if we concentrate on our game more then what they have then I think we will be fine.”

Petkovic is hoping for a good all round team performance which he feels is the key to getting the three points.

“We’ll have to be tight as a unit and fight for each other but also each individual has to win their own battle on the park.”

The Metro winger says getting the breakthrough goal will set the tone of the game.

“You don’t want to be chasing the game because you will leave yourself exposed to conceding another. Getting on the front foot is important and that’s what we’ll look to do one the weekend.”

Having struggled to close out games as of late, Mitirs indicates how they will look to finish off White City.

“We will really need to concentrate on taking our chances. We need to make sure we stay solid throughout the game and try to compete.”
