Calder United 4 (Barilla 41′ 53′ 83′, Alonso 44′) defeated Galaxy United 1 (Komijat 7′) at Keilor Park

In the battle of the two unbeaten teams, Calder came out on top to preserve their perfect start to the season so far with a 4-1 home win.

They didn’t have it all their way though, as Aneta Komijat tapped in at just the seven minute mark for Galaxy after Sadie Murphy’s delivery.

The hosts found their feet and turned the deficit into a lead just before the break, when the deadly duo of Enza Barilla and Rachel Alonso both scored to make it 2-1.

Barilla kicked on in the second, manufacturing a goal on her own simply by hassling the defence and winning the ball before beating Kelsey Quinn.

With time running out on a Galaxy comeback, Calder struck on the break again when Holly Boldiston cut the ball back for Barilla to complete her hat-trick.

Box Hill United 1 (M. Camilleri 73’) defeated by Heidelberg United (Nicolaci 43’ Mamanu-Gray 69’ Barbieri 90’) at Wembley Park

Heidelberg United put some horror early-season form behind them with a 3-1 win over the stuttering Box Hill United.

The hosts were missing in-form keeper Emily Shields and struggled at the back as a consequence.

Despite looking good value in the first half, Box Hill fell behind via a Julia Nicolaci header following a cross into the box just before the break.

It was a disappointing blow for Bob McGuinness’ side, and it got worse when Elise Mamanu-Gray scored in similar circumstances in the 69^th minute.

Melanie Camilleri pulled one back moments later to give her side a slither of hope when she picked up Emma Littlewood’s pass and unleashed from distance to beat Christina Fonua.

It wasn’t meant to be for Box Hill as a familiar face in the form of Melissa Barbieri came back to haunt their side, tapping in from Mamanu-Gray’s effort.

Southern United 1 (Ferreyra 62′) defeated by Bayside United 3 (Jones 11′, James 58′, Benton 72′) at Lawton Park

In the clash between the cellar dwellers it was Bayside who came out on top with a 3-1 over Southern United, who continue to seek their first points of the season.

It was the worst possible start for the hosts when a lapse in concentration allowed Kendra Jones to open the scoring when she rounded goalkeeper Freya Crocker.

Bayside doubled their lead in the second half when Jones’ cross was misread by Crocker, allowing Bronte James to put away the finish.

Candela Ferreyra pegged one back, bundling in from a corner after the away side failed to clear their lines.

But it proved mere consolation as Aimee Benton tapped in another cross by Jones, who was involved in each goal on the day for her side.

FC Bulleen Lions 2 (Coppock 49′, OG 81′) defeated Alamein FC 1 (Thomas 73′) at David Barro Stadium

Bulleen won their fourth consecutive game to strengthen their lead on the top of the table with an exciting 2-1 win over Alamein United.

Bulleen would have been ruing a few misses in the first half, including Taryne Boudreau and Dani Gudelj both hitting the woodwork.

But it didn’t take long for them to find the scoresheet in the second half when Gudelj’s corner found Em Coppock for a powerful headed finish.

Alamein hit back through substitute Britt Thomas in the 73^rd minute, who was on hand to finish off Hannah Keane’s run down the wing and cutback.

Just as it looked like the momentum swung in the visitors’ favour, another corner kick proved their undoing, which resulted in an own goal after a bit of pinball in the area.

While Alamein again tried to push for an equaliser, the closest they came was through Keane rattling the crossbar with a stunning strike from distance.
