Three scorers earn Dandy three points against Springvale

Dandenong City has recorded a resounding 3-0 away victory over local rivals Springvale White Eagles on Saturday afternoon.

Two early goals from Ashley Cattermole and Sean Seavill in the opening 12 minutes set City on its way before former White Eagles winger Andy Jerez sealed the victory in the second half.

It could have been an entirely different story had the home side buried an early chance when some good work from Milan Jovanovic saw Scott Millar presented with a golden opportunity to open the scoring, only for the forward to strike wide.

The White Eagles were forced to rue that missed opportunity minutes later when a Jerez corner found the head of Cattermole, who leaped highest ahead of teammate John Carroll, to head home and give City the lead.

Two minutes later and the visitors extended their lead when a good team move saw Jerez play in an unmarked Seavill, who calmly slotted the ball home past Nebojsa Vujic in Springvale goals.

Cattermole nearly scored his second and added a third when his powerful shot was well saved by Vujic after a fantastic through ball from Alex Rojas.

Up the other end, Danilo Vuckovic almost got one back for the home side when his free-kick went just wide of Damir Salcin’s right-hand post.

Springvale almost got one back early in the second half when Hernan De Rito’s curling long-range effort hit the crossbar and bounced back into the play without reward.

City would extend its lead minutes later when Seavill repaid Jerez, setting him up to slot the ball home with a fantastic cross into the box from the right side of play.

The hosts almost got one back immediately but Jovanovic failed to direct his header away from Salcin as he met Fesseha’s flick on.

Several poor challenges from both sides followed with the referee going to his notebook in an attempt to keep control of a game that threatened to boil over.

Two half-chances from Vuckovic and Erakovic failed to peg one back for the White Eagles as City substitute Goran Jozeljic’s bending effort went wide.

A late indirect free-kick from Dandenong substitute Dario Matkovic produced a good save from Vujic as City almost compounded the White Eagles woes.

But it would not matter as City ran out 3-0 winners in front of solid crowd in Keysborough to extend its recent run of good form.
