NPL clubs to celebrate Mother's Day

Clubs across the PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria are celebrating Mother's Day this weekend with events taking place across Melbourne.

Clubs in both the NPL and NPL 1 will be hosting an array of activities from pancake breakfasts, mother's day markets, to pre-game cocktail functions.

The festivities kick off on Friday night, with South Melbourne taking on Avondale FC at Lakeside Stadium.

South Melbourne will be hosting a ladies day, with free entry for all female football fans. As well as this, there will be a cocktail function, live entertainment, and the senior team will be kitted out in pink socks.

The club will be collecting donations for the national breast cancer research centre as well.

On Saturday night, Richmond SC will host a pop-up market in the club rooms ahead of their fixture against Box Hill United, with the game kicking off at 8.30pm at Kevin Bartlett Reserve, Burnley.

Meanwhile Dandenong Thunder will be offering free entry to all mothers for its clash against North Geelong Warriors, kicking off 7.00pm at George Andrews Reserve.

On Mother's Day itself, Brunswick City will be hosting a free pancake breakfast at Dunstan Reserve.

Pascoe Vale will also be hosting a free breakfast for all mums at Hosken Reserve ahead of hosting Bendigo City FC.

As well as this, all junior players will be wearing pink ribbon bands, as well as asking for donations to go towards the Breast Cancer Council.

Also in the north, Heidelberg United will be giving every mother who comes along to its junior day against FC Bulleen Lions a flower, as well as a free sweet with their coffees.

The club will also run a raffle, with proceeds going to AGAPI CARE, a respite organisation that allows mothers with disabled children to take some time off during the year.

Meanwhile FC Bulleen - in conjunction with the Veneto Club - will be raising awareness to support CanTEEN.

Even though FC Bulleen Lions won't be holding an event on mother's day itself, a launch and sports day has been planned to run in the near future, and include a sausage sizzle, face painting, fairy floss, stilt walkers, a DJ, and more.

The club is also working on holding a ladies night where women involved with the team - mothers, sisters, and other special people - will be invited to come along to a home game, enjoy a class of champagne and canapes, and enjoy the night as VIPs.

The date and details of these events are yet to be finalised.
