Warriors put super six past Gully

North Geelong has recorded its first win of the PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria season in stunning fashion with a 6-1 drubbing of Green Gully on Wednesday night at Green Gully Reserve.

It was a hat-trick to Robert Zadworny, a brace to Juso Julardzija and a goal to Reardo Luka that dealt all the damage for the Warriors.

Looking the better of the two from the outset, the Warriors did not have to wait long to convert their dominance to goals, with Zadworny getting the first of the match in the 16th minute with a low finish from the left side of the penalty box.

The forward could have doubled his side’s advantage soon after through a long range curling effort, only for it to smash the crossbar.

Zadworny’s dominance was such that Gully coach Bob Stojcevski was forced into a defensive re-shuffle after half an hour, by bringing on centre-back Matthew Reid for full-back Aaron Cohen.

His performance then ventured into the fantastic, with the diminutive forward grabbing his and the Warriors’ second of the night, lobbing a cheeky shot over Kieran Gonzalez after a quick pass midfield that bought Gully undone.

Warriors took a 2-0 lead to the break, leaving a tired and flat Gully with it all to do in the second half.

The second stanza started in quick fashion, with the home team getting one back through Reid at a set-piece. But it was fleeting, as Zadworny added a third just moments later, chesting a long pass down at the right side of the box, then slotting past Gonzalez.

With momentum and rampant energy behind them, Warriors set about furthering their advantage. Striker Juso Julardzija got his first goals of the year; the first at the 70th minute as he finished a lovely team move from the visitors to put the result beyond doubt.

Sub Reardo Luka had an impact, driving a stunning long range shot that somehow found its way to the back of the net to add the fifth for North Geelong.

The win was capped by a goal from Julardzija just seconds before the final whistle.

The Warriors' ability to harass and press Gully into submission, and then spring attacks on the break, gave them a famous win.
