Milojevic named Rising Star of the Month

Winning Edge Presentations Rising Star of the Month, Rounds 5-8 - Vojislav Milojevic (Springvale White Eagles)

Vojislav Milojevic – simply known as ‘Vojo’ - was doing a coaching program in the Cook Islands when he found out he had been voted the Rising Star of the Month.

Just over a month ago, his side Springvale was at the bottom of the table, but Milojevic’s stunning form on the right wing has played a huge part in the White Eagles’ revival.

The 19-year-old’s performances have even seen him gather a cult following on Twitter.

Fresh off scoring the winner against Kingston City at the weekend, Milojevic took the time to email FFV’s Julian Trantino from the Cook Islands.

JT: Congratulations Vojo. How does it feel to be the first NPL 1 player to be named the Rising Star of the Month?

It's amazing, take as you go I guess. You don't set out for individual awards, you just want your team to be successful and win games. But it's good and is also a big confidence booster.

What would you rate as your best performance in the past month and why?

Probably against Box Hill, I went out and gave everything I got. They were first and we were at the bottom of the ladder so we didn't really have anything to lose. I got two assists and won a penalty.

I saw you play on the weekend and was really impressed with your pace and aggression. For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe yourself as a player and is there anyone you try to base your game on?

I've been told that I play like Gareth Bale a fair amount of times, as he plays direct, with a lot of pace. And that's basically how I like to play; just run at the defenders.

Which clubs have you played for previously?

I've always been at Springvale White Eagles (started in 2001).

What are you up to outside of football?

I'm at university studying to be physical education teacher.

What’s your ultimate goal football-wise?

For now I would like to have a consistent season this year and hopefully get into the A-League system, but long term it would be amazing to play football overseas.

I’ve seen you’ve got a bit of a cult following on Twitter from some of our match reporters. Do you enjoy the attention you’ve been receiving on social media?

It's always great to get a mention or two in a match report, especially if they are positive mentions.

The Rising Star of the Month is awarded to the NPL or NPL 1 player under the age of 20 who receives the most votes for the month from FFV's match reporters.
